Hey guys, I have been researching for a while but I am at a loss, there seems to be no detailed info for install with a c body. I have a 68 Plymouth sport fury and I just purchased a 5.7 Hemi out of a 03 dodge ram. (I got all of the acc., wiring, and computer off the truck). My fury is originally a 318 car with a 904 trans. I have been looking for a while but I want to get your guys opinion on the parts I should order. First off, what motor mounts would you recommend. Every website just gives A,B,E body mounts. Why no love for the C body!! Also I read I may need a mid sump oil pan. But most of the info again was for the A,B, and E bodies! I also plan on installing a 5spd and getting rid of the auto but I'll ask those questions when I get there! I know this is not an easy or cheap swap but I think it is the best thing for me with what I have planned for it. Any help would be great! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFWLjzi1blw
Some pictures of my car before building it!
Also, I had taken out the 318 and put a 360 in that I bought from CL.... It turns out people arent honest on craigslist and the "newly built" 360 destroyed itself after only 500 miles. After taking the motor out we found that the motor was not put back together correctly... Hence why I decided to ditch the old motors all together and go with the hemi build. Here are some photos of all that.
A few things that are different on s C body compared to the A,B and E crowd is the width of the Torsion bars. They are generally wider from side to side than the others which poses more challenges such as most headers that fits the others will not fit a C body based on the wider measurement. Also the sub frame mounts are different on a C body than most others. Year to year C bodies are a bit different from the slab sides to the fusey's etc. also. Good luck with your quest. I think you will have a real challenge, but i'm sure it will be an awesome car when you are done with it.

Thanks owatajrkiam, Yeah I knew it would be challenging but I am excited for the end result. bomber I wasn't able to find a build on here for the station wagon so I hope he does pipe up! I emailed mancini racing to see if they could help me out but they havent responded yet. I also emailed one of the guys on here that had a thread back in 2010 saying he was in the middle of doing the same thing I am. I am still waiting on a response from him. I really need to get the motor mounts and pan quick because I ship out in a month. Hopefullly some more people will chime in and have some info! Thanks again guys!

I believe it was in the chit chat column. Would be a ways back by now. For some reason I am thinking it was grandfathers or dads wagon. Did a really great job on it. Hope he chimes in.

The build thread was on a 72 Fury, last update was maybe 6-9 mos ago?
If you dig you should be able to find it, googling 'drydock 72 fury hemi' might get you there.
BTW, not that it matters, but in 20+ years of owning Cs I've never seen a 904 in as factory-issue in a C-body. I think it's presumed that 318s come with 904s, but not in Cs. My then-survivor 68 F3 had a 727 behind its 318, and I can't imagine that it was a special option.

Thanks fury fan, I'll see if I can find it. And as far as the 904, I just put in a custom converter and it's definitely a 904... Not sure if it's the original trans though! Haha I contacted Randy Bouchillon with Bouchillon Performance Engineering and asked him if his company could help. He responded the next day and sent me a form for me to fill out so they can make me a custom install kit. I'm not sure how much it will cost but this might be my only option!

Here is the thread you want. You'll have to go pretty deep into before you get to the part where he pulls the 360 and replaces it with the 5.7 Hemi. Start around page 17.

Mopar c body insulators and brackets are the same as b body hardware with regard to B/RB engines. I can't see why B body to gen3 hemi mounting hardware would be different or am I wrong?

My 68 also has a 904 and it is most definitely original. 904's were standard on the 6's and 318's, with 727's optional for towing applications. 383's and up had the 727's standard. I think there's some liturature on it somewhere.
I'll be interested to see how this build goes, have thought about doing something similar with the running gear from a magnum or newer chrysler 300.
