I started a new thread so others would be more inclined to read it.
I just installed the "wrong" window motor in the left rear door of the Imperial. My original motor had bad gears so I installed the new faster motor in the car. I know a gear swap is cheap and easy but I wanted new stuff and Greg found 'em cheap.
In the other post Greg said:
wrote ... The bad news is I tried one of the 'Siemens' style and they don't fit. The engagement of the drive gear is off; it is too close to the regulator gear by about 1/16". I tried all 3 motor against 2 regulators and they all don't fit. You could make them work by modifying the steel plate on the motor so that the studs are moved back a little...but it sure would be nice if they just fit.
I pulled my regulator out and popped the motor off. I laid both motors side by side. The gears were the same diameter. The gear stuck out past the plate the same distance as the original gear poked out from the motor. When I tried to drop the new motor on it required a little wiggle to line up the gear teeth but it dropped in place. After looking it over closely and checking for proper gear alignment, it looked like a winner. I ran back out and stuffed it in the car. *POOF* It fit perfectly. No modifications were necessary. The Imperial now has 3 out of 6 windows operating properly. The right vent window quit working and the big window hasn't worked since I bought the car. I'll probably dig into it next Saturday and see what I can figure out. While I'm in there, I drop the new motor in it too.

THats great news!! - Did you have to remove the metal plate from the new motor - looks like the backing is the same on the housing of the 'new' motor once you remove that plate. I'll be able to have a better look at this over the new year/Christmas period hopefully.

I wonder what year your Imperial is? If it is a fuselage style then that might explain why....after all, the book shows that it fits those years. It didn't fit my 66 regulators in any case.

My 72 Imp is a fusey. It's odd that they would move the motors a tiny distance like that. There would have to be a good reason to go through the retooling cost. The motors do feel strong and are faster than my originals.
I just bolted one of the Siemens motors to a spare '66 New Yorker regulator that I had lying around and it fits and works well. I initially thought it didn't fit too, but just had to move the regulator a bit so the gears meshed and it went right in. It's hard to tell how strong it is without being mounted in the door with glass and all. The only issue that I see is that my original motors had a mounting tab on the back of the motor for the 4th mounting point to the door (the regulator has the other 3). I won't know about that until I take a door apart and try to actually install one - probably late this week.

I skipped that upper bolt. After a brief thought of retrofitting the bracket, I decided to simply bolt it on using the existing hardware. the motor is lighter and shorter than the original. That should releive much of the concern over the extra bracket.

Hi Feets,
I have a 70 Sport Fury with stuffed motors, 1. would the motors you found fit? 2. What model number motor did you order from RockAuto?
