Hi all. I am 1/8 the way through my resto on my 66 polara convertible i wanted the 500 emblem on my fenders to mean something so im building a 500ci stroker with fuel injection. I have some fears that the tourqe might twist the frame up. Does anyone know where i should reinforce so that when I pound the gas while cruising I dont turn my vert into a pretzel?

Good question my friend! I hope someone can answer your question. I have a 67 300 convertible and want to beef up the suspension considerably and have often wondered about how this might affect the chassis.

I've put a 500 c.i. stroker into my 68 fury vert and this is what I did to the frame-
The first pic (I hope) is looking down under the back seat with the floor removed. This is the torque box area where all the load from the back frame is transerred to the front. The leaf spring bracket is not installed. this I think is the most critical area and I replaced all of it with new thicker steel.I would strengthen it here. Next I added a frame connector tube from the torque box area to the front subframe. The second picture shows it welded to the subframe. The subframe was heavily rust damaged here and I replaced the area where it bolts up to the body.
I think that will be enough, but I won't have mine on the road until next summer. Time will tell........

Simple enough! Plan on hitting the track? Better have a roll cage in it. Sub frame connectors (forget the bolt on crap) are a must AND the torque box re-inforcements are a great idea as said! If you choose NONE of these, I'll be buying your car for parts soon! Tony P.
